asdf PM ban?
asdf PM ban?
I want an opt-in list!
The PMs we get were so exciting. Especially when I get about 99% spam, and by getting the PM e-mails it goes down to about 95% spam.
Or maybe we could make an opt-out for the people who don't like to be reminded to come back to ASDF.

Re: asdf PM ban?
hello, welcome back
opt-in list, opt-out? i dunno what these mean..
i understand that the pm spam was useful to remind people about ASDF, but the inboxes are limited and many people don't want to get all those PMs..

Opt-in?
You were banned from PM'ing cause you replied to the "Re: I messed up" PM, even everyone have been warned about it...

It shouldn't happen again...

Maybe I did not word what I meant correctly. I was not banned from PMing: every non-administrator person was banned from replying to the Re: I messed up. thread. And I want to be able to get PMs for that thread.

Re: asdf PM ban?
the point is that it was not a "thread", it was a PM discussion.. feel free to start a normal thread if you like..

Re: asdf PM ban?
We could edit the database directly and delete all PM related to "I messed up", with a MySQL query like this:
Code: Select all
SELECT `message_subject`
DELETE * FROM `phpbb_privmsgs`
WHERE `message_subject` = 'Re: I messed up'
LIMIT 0 , 30
Re: asdf PM ban?
We don't have access to the holy database...
However permissions have now been removed to PM multiple users...

Re: asdf PM ban?
That's why I asked for an opt-in list. I wish to get an e-mail every time I get a response instead of having the stupid "suspend e-mails until you visit the forums" thing: the e-mails get lost too easily then.
Re: asdf PM ban?
you know, if we can block a pm from our inbox, why don't we just do that instead of banning people for replying to somthing that brought them back?

we still don't know what that meansSasha wrote:That's why I asked for an opt-in list.
you can get emails when you receive PMs or somebody replies to a thread you are "watching" ("Subscribe topic" link at the bottom of the page).Sasha wrote:I wish to get an e-mail every time I get a response instead of having the stupid "suspend e-mails until you visit the forums" thing: the e-mails get lost too easily then.
The PM system is not meant for forum-wide discussions, but for personal messages to one other user. You and some others might enjoy it while three times more people might get disturbed by it..
your info is out of date..Ml08180 wrote:you know, if we can block a pm from our inbox, why don't we just do that instead of banning people for replying to somthing that brought them back?
we don't ban for that anymore, but the "sending of pms for multiple users at the same time" feature has been disabled.

Re: asdf PM ban?
*sigh*
Sasha is asking for a list of people that can recive messages like that and a list of people that don't want to and for an option so that you can put yourself on and off those lists.

Re: asdf PM ban?
Yep. So basically, instead of banning people from sending PMs to multiple recepients, block the PM with the title "Re: I messed up." from reaching the PMbox. Then the people who want to get those messages can remove that block.Ml08180 wrote:*sigh*

But once you receive one e-mail, new e-mails stop coming until you visit the thread. And then you run a high risk of overlooking the sent e-mail.atomtengeralattjaro wrote:we still don't know what that meansSasha wrote:That's why I asked for an opt-in list.

With PMs, on the other hand, each PM generates an e-mail message, thus three times the fun.
Re: asdf PM ban?
like I said before, just subscribe to the forum and get several messages in one day, every time a topic is replied to it sends you a new message

Re: asdf PM ban?
As I said, if I do not visit the forum, I only get one e-mail per thread, and then they stop until I visit the forum. With PMs, that does not happen.Sasha wrote:...
