Hmmm... It's not really about racing... I mean... If you're racing with 2 players against one another, the one who is second on the prelast lab will win 95% of the cases because he'll get all the good items... The one who is first gets a penalty that slows him down so the race is more interesting... This way the better driver doesn't win...

I've never reallly played F-Zero, but i want to... i heard it's coming out on wii, but probably with stupid controls tacked on.

F-zero isn't on wii, you need a gamecube controller for it...
I remember injuring my thumb from playing that game... :) It's called snaking...
