ML found a small, vacant cave to hide in when the night began to fade. It was enough to protect him. After a few hours he needed rest. The nights events had weakened him, he had made 10 miles progress.
ML was awakened by the sound of a whistle. It was about a mile back, but within moments there were four more then seven. ML recognized it as the sound of arrows, and quickly stopped at the edge of the cage. 'It's one mile back and there's tree cover, something doesn't feel right,' he told himself. After a minute or two, then one shot and the sound of footsteps, ML decided he had to investigate. He rushed under the trees and tried to stay close to the trunks, to avoid sun contact.
After about a minute or two, he came to where the sound came from. It seemed as though there were at least 30 of them all forming a circle around one area. ML loaded his dart gun with a wooden bullet and looked for a leader. He quickly identified him as the one in the back with a blue stripe going downwards to the right on his armor. ML took aim, this shot had to count. There was a small gap between the chest plates in the armor, just big enough to fit an arrow stub through. The gun make a small Click! as ML pulled the spring lever back to load it. He pulled the trigger. CRACK!
The small wooden bullet had hit it's mark, right between the obsidian-glazed armor, stunning the captian, who stupidly pulled out, ripping a bit of his armor out in the process. The bullet as he fell to the ground. A troop ran to the captian who was already dead, picked up the bullet, threw it to the side, and ran off. "Morons," ML said two minutes after they had left.
He lifted his head quickly as he smelled something. It was a sweet smell, much like the ones at asdf castle. It was human, definitly, and the smell of the plastic from the guns they'd been given on their journey was pungent. This was far out in the woods for someone though, except for Ms. Quat who was an exceptionally light sleeper for a non-vampire. ML stayed put for a minute, but it was a minute to long, for the time he'd spent had taken it's toll. The sun was now directly over head and was coming through all the leaves of the tree at once. Then ML realized there was a beam of light coming through the leaves right in front of him. If he didn't move now, it would hit him in about three minutes.
He was pinned to the tree, in a small bend that wouldn't allow for his escape. There is something to be understood about sunlight from directly overhead. That high of a concentration is very hot and can instantly burn through the skin of a vampire. This is why they tend to avoid noon at all costs, to keep from burning. Ms. Quat was nearby, All ML would have to do is yell and she could block the light from touching him.
ML opened his mouth to yell for help when he was interupted. "Bring those bows this way men, Commander Wrorck may have fallen, but we won't give up our mission!" a high-pitched voice sounded from a crowd of men. If ML yelled now he'd never get out of this, he was pinned to a tree by a beam of life, he could hear Ms. Quat's footsteps coming this way, and the clicks of loading crossbows were going off. Worst of all, he had to piss really bad. "Ah shit, how do I get out of this one," he said to himself.
(nice job)
