Or if they create a base of fanboys and fangirls that will line up for days to be the first to throw hundreds of dollars at products that appeal to the emotionally charged consumer.

There can only be fans if it's a good product and it's worth getting another of a similar type

Why did people buy the iPad?

My friend's dad has one. It's just like an oversized iPod touch. I suppose it isn't useless, but its size doesn't make it any more capable; in fact, its hugeness brings it down a couple notches...

Also it can't make calls...
