I don't know about the rest of you, but sometimes when I see a fat person I instinctively hate them.

For example, there are many many kinds of weldings that require a different technique and stuff... Knowing these if a big advantage...

About the eating habits, I've found out that there are relatively more fat people over here then in america... :o

I have 2 questions, you can answer either.

If you could be in a perfect place in this life, what would it be like?
This place must follow all of the rules of physics of earth. Basically everything here must exist somewhere else on the planet. Basically no super powers, no buildings that mystically float in the air. Everything must be for a reason. IE the building floats because of MASSIVE magnets.

What is your idea of a perfect after life?
Anything goes.

Let's try to not make these answers TOO long... I'll let someone else decide how long that is.

I'll start with the short one.

My 'perfect' place in this life would be as such.

Any race or religion is allowed, but no serious bigotry is allowed which is ironically bigotry in it's self. What I mean is open mindedness. No gay bashers, no racists, etc. You can dislike the gays or what ever, but you cannot act on it or you are fined or punished or something. I suppose joking about is fine, but only verbally... You can't burn a cross on some black guy's porch as a joke... that's just wrong. It's my place, my rules lol. Everything is democratic. You don't like the guy manager cutting your wages and raising his? Vote him out! Basically a fixed America. I like socialism but a real fixed America would be Democratic/Socialist/Capitalist ideals mixed together, such as a tax to support the elderly and health care, but everyone can live on their wages without the extreme difficulty some are dealt these days. Something along those lines...

My 'perfect' after life would be as such.

Physics apply, gravity, friction and such. However, the people (we'll just say souls for simplicity) have heightened mental ability. Not intelligence or anything, but the ability to simply create and move things with the mind, including the self. The government would not exist, but some laws do, and so does 'enforcement'. Jobs exist to provide services to the souls. There are no physical needs, such as eating, sleeping or anything and you can look how you wish. Though these are not needed they are still possible. If one wants to work out to look better this is possible. If one wants to eat, this is possible. The people who provide these services will not be paid but will be who ever wishes to do these jobs such as the die hard chefs and such. No one is paid because no bills exist. Space is not limited, nor is time for you cannot die. If one wishes the 'reality' of pain, then it can be had. Anything can be done except what is detrimental directly to someone.

For example, say you love flying on planes but not moving your self, there will be pilots who love flying to transport you. No one will be allowed to be pilot, thought, if their intent is to crash the plane or slow the flight in any way deliberately.

Though physics apply they are only the very basic. Energy however can simply be created or destroyed. Everything created belongs to the creator, and only the creator can destroy it. The nature of the 'land' is logical. So if something is obviously wrong it is an action not possible. For instance: Man A cannot build a box around man B's house to trap man B if it isn't his wish.

It would not be eternal greatness or eternal damnation as such things are senseless things. There is a capacity for negative and positive, it is not infinite. Every person can only be pushed so far until all of his fears, pleasures, hates, likes and so on are met. The only thing that can go on forever is his or her existence in this place for no one is possible of knowing everything to know, imagining all that there is to imagine, experiencing every experience and such. Everyone comes into this world with only what they knew. For a short period of time they go to a 'school' where they are taught the basics of this place. In this place all that there is to know about the previous life is able to be known. They are able to find the truth about their lives, mysteries of science, even religions can be learned of. Because this place is perfect no religion is right nor wrong, they all simply are, and there are separate dimensions set to each and every religion which those who follow or wish to learn of it may go. This knowledge must be earned though. The books found, or the experiments done, the path traveled etc.

Here everyone is equal, and it is clear, for everyone has the exact same capacity for strength and knowledge. There is another dimension set aside for those who wish for less purity, where not everyone is equal. However it's like an RPG of sorts, everyone that enters has the same choices available, everyone that enters enters at the same base, with nothing but a set simple understanding. It's a new free world of sorts. Like when you first entered the base dimension only you have only what is given to you and not what is learned from before. When you come in you remember that you can leave and what you learned over the course of being there. As you learn things here you are allowed the knowledge of that you previously had this knowledge. Basically if you learn that water can dissolve salt and knew it before coming in, you also learn that you knew it before. When you leave however, you remember everything you learned from before.

I think that's enough explanation...

1. Florianópolis.

2. Humm... A world where you can get separated from everything that exists into void or the infinite... Then you could create everything with nothing but your mind.. For example, create a hugely tall building and then jump out of it to experience free falling, or maybe even flying if you wish... Or creating a sphere with elements needed for life with its own gravity, and fast forward it billions of years and see how life would develop on its own way... And interacting to see what would happen... Trying out all of the superpowers you always wondered how would be like having when you were alive... A place where your imagination is the only limit... But then, if you wanted to interact with people, you could go somewhere else, with rules and stuff for maintaining peace, or just to invite someone to the world you created....

Thank you lunar for the text-skyscraper... ;)
  1. My perfect place (place describing time also) would be the city of Leuven (Belgium) in the year 1400... People were real people back then -and there-... I don't believe that the future will hold much more happyness...
  2. My perfect afterlife would be, well, the constant feeling of satisfaction, happyness, accomplishment, omniscience... The feeling that you 'get' the world, understand it...
The physical laws, mass, ... All don't matter to me... But I expect it to be ubiquitous...
I have copied a lot of texts about near-death experiences in detention...
No, I just want to be loved, be with the person whom I love...
I'm sorry if I'm a bad explainer... :(

As for lunar, places like that exist already, it doesn't have to be a fixed America... ;)

For me the greatest life would be one with some kind of babel fish thing, which people who have read hhgttg will understand. Basically, you put something in your ear, and you hear every langauge as your native one. It would certainly solve a lot of problems. Possibly a world where everyone is an ASDFist too. There would be no crime. As for after life, I don't know. The 40 virgins thing seems like a lot of hassle.

Where is this place?! I don't need massive taxes on absolutely everything including how many rooms I have in my house, My taxes now are perfect, they aren't taking anything ridiculous out, but there's no health care basically. So many people here are crooked, scandalous, and stupid I can barely have a face to face chat with anyone in my town. Perhaps it's just ND, when I went to other places it wasn't bad, actually it was in almost every case (except Wyoming) really great. I'm sick of everyone who is worth talking to being so far away. I'm not gonna rant about my lack of social life here or anywhere because only one person wants to hear that. The point is, even though I have a decent job, and even though where I live is basically the most economically stable place in the country, I don't like it here... I just want a straight simple life, so that would be my perfect place. I go to work for 35 hours a week, I help support a family, I stay the weekends with my family and there aren't so many worthless workers at the work place to the point that I'm doing almost everyone's b*tch work.

From what I've seen on the outtake from Sicko, Norway sounds like a good place.

Norway you say? I haven't seen any of Michael Moor's movies before Capitalism: A love story, but that did make me want to see the others. I'll have to watch them soon. But I'll look into Norway. I'm really glad you started this thread keja!

Of course, Moore has a biased opinion, and I haven't researched to check whether he has exagerated at all. The video is on youtube though, i'm sure you'd find it if you searched "sicko norway extra".
