But now, for example, factory work, it earns a very good living here and doesn't require any knowledge, not even reading... I made about € 10 an hour, that's 14.88 USD, for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week...

Let's see... about 8 hours a day or more, 5 days a week and you can only pick 2 other classes (basically) until your sophomore year. btw I want your old job... I make 8.60 and soon maybe 9 usd an hour for about 40 hrs a week...

Not really... My father is architect and earns much more than those rural workers that spend day and night working on crops and livestock...

His work isn't physical as much as mentally difficult.

From what i see, (though i'm pretty far from there so i can't really see) Obama is trying to include government-paid healthcare into the healthcare system, but not changing it entirely, the private insurance companies would stay but for those who can't afford it, there would be a cheaper government-funded insurance.

In Hungary, we don't have private health insurance, and it hasn't caused any problems (the fact that our healthcare system is currently falling apart is entirely irrelevant and is caused by our govt.).

In the U.S, many people fear that this change would mean a lower level of healthcare, and that Obama would need to raise taxes to fund the govt. health insurance.. well the taxes part is probably true but i don't think they'd suffer much from it..

many are from what I can see...They think that it will indeed lower the level of healthcare, which may or may not be true. the healthcare in Canada is government run and it is of lower quality than US healthcare, but it is cheaper. But then again, our doctors won't screw their patients over by making them get unnecessary operations to get more money.

As an American who payed a bit of attention to the health care thing here's what I think.

I don't think anyone knows what's going on with the health care thing, further more I don't think our government is fit to run this country anymore. The democrats (i believe, not really important who) had a super majority in the voting for health care changes. They basically had the voting power to get what ever they wanted done... anyone guess how much they got done in favor for them? NOT A DANG THING! They, in fact, only seemed to agree to talk about it...

I'm sorry if these are bad questions, these are things I've been wondering about, and I want to know others opinions.

I think that no generation is particularly better or worse than another. Just different problems and lifestyles. there was a quote from somewhere that went something like "every generation feels that they are better than the last, and wiser than the next" or something like that

2.) Are cell phones really taking over the teenage life?

I think so. At my school, someone is texting someone or using the web browser on their phone in every class. and I've seen tons of people overly attached to their phone.

3.) Would you say eating habits are worse today than they were in the past? Can you tell us why you think that?

I'd say that it is not as natural, so in a sense worse. people can now afford good tasting food, but it is more often than not, extremely unhealthy. So in a sense, I think it's worse, as in people only eat what tastes good, because they can afford to.

4.) What is your opinion on schooling in this day and age? Is it worth going to college to get a degree, or is high school enough?

depends on the person I think...university work is harder, but often lead to higher paying jobs, and a more stable lifestyle. And I would think that the level of respect you get from other people would be greater with a college degree.

1) Horribly so, everyone is so rude, self absorbed, and vain. I don't mean like keja ego either! I mean... these scene kids, the preps, the athletes. Sure they were a problem before, but only to people their age, or not present. And the frivolity! Soooo much sleeping around, it's like the 70's again! Everyone is sleeping with someone else! Perhaps it's because my generation but I hate it... I'm not going to give a soapbox speech here...
2) It's gotten to the point where people are texting at work, at my job, when they AREN'T busy. To be honest they shouldn't have their phone at work, by rule. There is always ALWAYS work to be done.
3) As someone who works at McD's and see's some of the same kids 3 times a week, deffinately. I love to cook at home when I have patience and food. My dad, step mom, and I always eat together when I'm there. I personally believe it's important to eat as a family, and usually at home. Going out is good too, but usually not good for you, and either way it's more expensive. Don't get me wrong, I like going out, but not all the time, especially when my mom and dad are good cooks. I'd cook every day if I could, especially if I had a family to take care of.
4)I think I've pointed out my opinion on school already.

1) These kids today... I don't like the way dress, act or their taste in music, I much prefer any of the ways of previous generations, but the way the new generation acts is hardly any different.

2) I don't know. I'm using my phone to post now, but on most weekdays It's turned off during the day.

I'm not sure how to answer that. I'll eat what my parents put in front of me if it tastes nice but I usually hate what they cook. It's not usually that healthy either. I also hate looking at people when I eat.

I'm sorry if these are bad questions, these are things I've been wondering about, and I want to know others opinions.

1. The generation has been altered by worse parenting (more freedom) and advance in technology... The newer generations are worse in my opinion, but it's not their fault...
2. Taking over, as in controlling their lives, I think not... But it's increasing popularity, and some people are on it all the time, even when they have nothing interesting to say... I call that group the social networking group, which is always on sites like netlog, facebook, asl, ...
   Then you have those people who use it from time to time, to ask some things from time to time... I gladly belong to this second group...
3. In the time I've been living, there has been an advance in unhealthy drinks and foods, but also -even more- 'healthy' foods and drinks... This last is just removing the sugar/fat/other from tasty stuff, putting light or diet on it and the thing sells... Healthy as they may be, and claiming to be tasty too, I still stand my point that healthy stuff isn't tasty on overall... My flavour might have been altered by unhealthy nutritions in my childhood...
   I don't see a lot of people that I deem fat at all...
4. The western-Europe education system is excellent... But do know that further studies after high school is not to get a piece of paper, but it's to learn...
   There are two ways you can go after high school; academic bachelor or professional bachelor, focussing on theory and practice respectively... When finishing professional bachelor, you've learned a lot practical knowledge, and you will surely get a huge advantage over other people in a company who didn't study...
   Then the academic bachelor is focussed on theory, like engineering, to prepare you for further master studies... And for the lovers, there are doctor studies up ahead...
   Ofcourse studying after high school is not necessary, but it's very handy... I just think it's a great great system...

Well I'm glad your system isn't as broken as ours. Did you know that (and it may have changed, but still recently) a manager at many restaurants made more than AIRLINE PILOTS?! And I don't mean top line managers that see over many stores either, it was so bad that most pilots had to take more than one job and were only flying because its what they loved. The system seemed broken, and to me still does here anyway. Especially when before you could go to college after a little saving, when now when most people are done with college and have a decent job it still takes many 15 years to pay off the schooling. I am in debt up to possibly 4k but this is little and I, so far have avoided the big rut. I'm gonna try to keep it that way and still finish school even if it means my 2 year studies take 6 years of part time schooling.

That wasn't even the reason for my post... dang ranting, I formally apologize... The healthy food tasting bad thing, you sir need to try my fathers cooking. It's delicious and healthy!

I wouldn't say the education system over here is excellent. It's good for people good at Reading and writing, but the more practical learners who would prefer to get a career in a physical job aren't well taught.

We can go really far in technical schools with that...
For example, there are many many kinds of weldings that require a different technique and stuff... Knowing these if a big advantage...

About the eating habits, I've found out that there are relatively more fat people over here then in america...
