Have you seen the English names?

Yes. They are perfectly suitable. Snivy is an ivy snake, just like bulbasaur is a dinosaur with a bulb. Tepig is clearly going to have names that increase in heat, from tepid to whatever, like whismur (murmur) goes to loudred (loud) and theb exploud (really really loud). Oshawott is kind of engrish sounding, similar to porygon. They all follow the normal naming conventions of pokemon and you're only complaining because you were used to the japanese names/nicknames, which haven't been as well publicised as they have this generation.

And as for the region name, Unova is pretty good. It shouldn't have a particularly japanese sounding as it's not in Japan.

I think the naming is just a victim of it's style. It's hard to make a bunch of names in america and keep them interesting, live with it. As for the area, I prefer Japanese sounding stuff because it's what I'm used to but Unova sounds cool so that's ok. Glad we finally got on track, you guys get off track a lot. i've always wondered about yellow colored eyes and purple colored eyes. The yellow eyes mentioned earlier though is the white part of the eye, not the iris.

Also i think there are a few STDs that make your eyes yellow, but i can't spell them, so you'll all just have to be careful.

I heard Oshawott's Japanese name was Wotter (Water Otter). Where does Oshawott come from anyhow?

Its Japanese name is mijumaru. Wotter is a fan created nickname that redundantly combines water and otter. Oshawott seems to combine ocean and otter, so the fan names wasn't har off.
