True, everyone needs to find his or her own reason to live. We all got it though, a reason to live...atomtengeralattjaro wrote:There has to be a reason to live for everyone, but not one general reason..

There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Forums of ASDF. But it was a beginning.

well...keja wrote:We don't kill ourselves because we are having fun, there is no purpose of life, we weren't "put" on earth.
Maleldil Himself took His form as ourselves to experience the good He had created in the Field of Arbol... we are an artistic expression of Him; in my opinion the ultimate artistry, to watch your creations grow and unfold...

Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
Indeed. So grow, and don't let anything restrain you. LEVEL UP!
SCRATCH THAT, I HAVE RETURNED
Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
but where does Maleldil's guidance end? will His creations ever become too much, as seen in the example of Weston and Devine? will we grow too old to enjoy His art? or it is only part of His process?

Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
Um... well, first off, I don't know who 'Maleldil' is. I'm pretty sure he's the god/deity/idol/demigod of some religion.
SCRATCH THAT, I HAVE RETURNED
Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
not a religion. I see Him as the creator of our Field of Arbol, what you call the solar system. He is the highest of the eldila, others like Oyarses being leaders of the planets in Deep Heaven and plain eldila that are all around us. He created hnau, or self-aware beings, and beasts, to live beside each other.

Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
So... are you the only person who believes this?
SCRATCH THAT, I HAVE RETURNED
Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
Argh, are you referencing the same series that includes the hnau thing?
Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
no. I do not worship Maleldil, but I respect Him as a leader and recognise His existence.

Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
We had a discussion on this in philosophy. My thoughts are thus. Did you feel the lack of meaning before asking this question? Probably not, and it's a very subjective question, in a good way. How do you know there is a purpose? If we were supposed to do something, something would let us know, is how I see it. Meaning and purpose in life will be different for everyone, I don't think there is a set 'purpose' for all of us equally.Gamma wrote:Hm... since this is a [serious] thread...
How about we discuss why we were put on earth. I mean, we die at the end, and most people don't do very many important things in the middle. What is the purpose of life? Why don't we all just kill ourselves?

Re: Discussion thread [Serious]
Okay. So you feel enough respect to capitalize the "H" in him? Isn't that bordering on worship, if not worship itself?asdfkumquat wrote:no. I do not worship Maleldil, but I respect Him as a leader and recognise His existence.
