If the shoe missed the tree, then does this imply that inanimate objects are capable of emotions, and thereby love? If inanimate objects can love, what makes them so different from humans? Perhaps the author of this story is implying that because the inanimate objects were capable of emotion, they became too close to the boundary of humans and objects. By trying to cross this line, the objects brought only doom upon themselves. Humans by nature, dislike all that become too close to human, or objects that aspire to be human. perhaps this story is a modern take on an old classic, Pinnochio, where an inanimate puppet became human. This story examines further into what it means to be human and what it means to be human. Even though the physical exterior of the shoe and the tree were unlike humans, perhaps within their conciousness, they were capable of emotion, and therefore, human. Recommended Viewing: Blade Runner. I give this story a 4.5 out of 5.
