And I haven't had steak with béarnaise in a long time, will have to put that on the menu for next time.

As lame as it sounds I ended up ordering chinese takeaway. I'm traveling next week for the holiday and don't have any food in the kitchen, and didn't want to let something rot in the icebox.

But thank you for the excellent suggestions Shai'tan. I will heed them sometime in the near future.
Haha, to the rescue, fulfilling your prejudices ;)

So this Thursday in these united states we celebrate the special occasion when British immigrants first came to this continent and raped and pillaged the Native Americans that were living here. We call it Thanksgiving. So tomorrow morning, bright and early, I am getting into a large metal bird which will somehow magically whisk me back home to see the family.

I will warn all of you that if you do not already appreciate your mom's home cooking (and/or dad's as the case may be), you absolutely should, as it is the greatest meal you will ever get to eat. And while it may not seem that way when you eat it every single night, trust me, it is.

Well, there's nothing wrong with living with your parents your whole life. All you have to do is tell people that they're living with you, not the other way around. Otherwise, people think you're a failure.

If they think you're a failure for living with your parents then you shouldn't be hanging around them. Besides, with the rising houses prices, it's very common to see people still living with their parents at 30+.

Well, I think it means if you can't afford a house by the age of 30, you're a failure...

It might not mean you've failed, but it's better to be living with them because you've failed at being independant than because you have a childlike bond to them that you can't break. That's just creepy.

Well, for me, I think I'm going to have my mother live with me because there is NO way I am going to surrender her to the creepy people at nursery homes. Nope. Not happening.

Then don't send her to a nursery home. And at 60, like Keja said, your mum should be fine without you, she's not a baby.

Did anyone think that older people living with their parents is because they are going to school? There are plenty of reasons one could not afford to move that don't spell out failure. I live with my mom because it's free. She goes to work when I'm sleeping, and I work when she's sleeping, I may live with my mom but I make enough to pay any bills she pays now, I consider my self independent. I feed my self, I pay my bills, I drive my self, I go to work and school. One with their parents are not always dependent, it's just cheaper housing, and as long as the son/daughter provides something, and doesn't become a bother, I see it more as like room mates, instead of a dependent relation of parent and child.

Do you like you mother? Or does she defy your attempts to change the kitchen into a world domination base?
