you might have heard bars, which might happen if you walk past an open bar and there is noise coming from inside, and there is another similar bar nearby so you may hear both at the same time, hence the plural.
or maybe you heard robot noises from the Bay Area Robotics Symposium?
could also be the noises emitted by Beneficial Ant Reconnaisance Systems, or of course the renowned Brutal And Reckless Shoehorn...
