I don't know if I could have seen it and if I could it would probably have been at an inconvenient time.

Anywhere in Europe, if you could see it at all, it was just a sliver.

Next full one is July 2, 2019, and it will be visible (in full, on land, anyway) in parts of Chile and Argentina.

Chile is a pretty well-developed country, actually. I lived there for two years. And some of the greatest beef in the world comes from Argentina.

Argentina: Go for the eclipse, stay for the asada (Spanish for "grill" or "barbecue").

That should be their official touristy logo thing going into 2019.

Pandemic 2: Flash/browser game. You're a disease trying to take over the world.
Pandemic: Board game. You're people who are trying to stop 4 diseases (or more if you're using some of the expansions) from taking over the world.

I've played them both. They're both fun. Except in Pandemic 2 when either Madagascar or Greenland closes their borders early on, so you can never truly take over the world.

Shai: Chile was pretty neat. Mountains on one side, ocean on the other. Temperate climate (at least in central/southern Chile, where I was), and the people are awesome.

The country itself, area-wise, is about the same as Texas. If you unrolled Texas so it was a strip of thin land, you'd pretty much have Chile. And you have a little bit of everything climate-wise if you go north enough (arid desert) or south enough (subarctic). In the middle there are temperate rain forests. In fact, there's a legend of sorts that when God finished creating the earth, he had small parts of every type of climate. He stuck them on the side of South America, and that's how Chile was made.

That's cool. No real reference for how big Texas is exactly, except I know it's big. Apparently it's about twice as big as Norway in square meters, so I guess it's pretty large. I guess you speak Spanish then? I believe I've seen it mentioned here before.

Reading the Wiki page it looks really interesting. Lots of beautiful nature and fauna. Apparently they (want to?) own a part of the Antarctic. I kinda want to visit now...

EDIT: And coincidentally it's on the front page of Reddit today for rejecting an iron mine to protect penguins, so that's cool.

They claim a wedge of Antarctica, but the UK claims the same wedge. Since no one really lives there, no one has done anything about the disputed claim.

Yep. I speak Spanish. Not as well as I did when I lived there, of course.

I didn't know about the mine. That's pretty cool! Go Chile!

Do the Chileans pronounce it like chili or like chill-e (flat e? how do you guys call the NORMAL e sound?) (chilla?)

CHEE-leh, which just follows standard Spanish pronunciation.
