Yer, it gets annoying though. Why don't they just hold up a sign saying, "Laugh, Now"

it is annoying, but most american televison shows have that so you get used to it. I think they use it as mob psycology to make people laugh at the show more, improving the ratings, but that's just my theory.

That's exactly what laugh tracks are designed to do. And why shows are filmed before a live studio audience.
