Well, when the seed is placed in an environment of warm, moist soil, it will become active and the embryo will begin soaking up nutrients from the endosperm and cotyledons... A root will emerge from the seed and grow into the ground, as well as many other roots that will branch off from it to soak up water... A stem will grow and the true leaves will emerge and grow, made up of cells with chloroplasts containing chlorophyll that stack up into thylakoids to photosynthesize... As the plant does this, it will make a simple form of sugar called glucose that it uses as its food, along with nutrients, water, and minerals like potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorous in the soil to grow up into an adult tree...
