Your first kill is given to you by Lucien Lachance, then you meet Ocheeva in the Dark Sanctuary, then Vincente Valtiere and than Lucien again.

Why not kill them? Are you able to?

They're just knocked unconscious, but Lucien tells you to kill Ocheeva and Vincente later on, and then he's murdered by other Listeners because there was a traitor.

That's weird. Anyone with sense would just kill all of em if they really wanted to be an assassin. And they must be an assassin for a reason, is it a motive, because a normal person wouldn't just go killing others for money you know, they'd have a grudge and chances are they'd take out anyone in charge and become the leader or just drive everything into chaos

No, they mostly kill for money, some for fun. There are the Tenets of the guild that prevent the killing between members.
