Re: The Daily Thread

Hello again!

Life is busy, but death has too much free time.

Also I have a lot to do these days.

Re: The Daily Thread

Today we had a mandatory meeting at work where we found out that we are losing our jobs at the end of August. The entire Norwegian and Swedish Service Desks are being closed. In addition to this the User Administrations are also closing. Not the worst for me as it was just a temporary part-time job,...

Re: Programming, computers, etc. [Serious]

Depends what rights you have at the computer and what is installed, but if you can transfer to an USB it shouldn't be a problem. Your code is very likely in just one place so you can just copy that. Your teacher probably meant a library that is used when coding the game. What do you use to program?

Re: The Daily Thread

A good friend of mine passed away yesterday. She was older than assdef, but she was sure fun to be around. Her funeral is later this week. We offered one of her grandsons, also a good friend, a place to sleep if he comes for the funeral. They live out of state. My condolences. D&D is fun. We have t...

Re: Let this thread die!

Let me start by saying Shai's arguments are convincing and well-thought-out (even though I continue to be a net neutrality skeptic). But I appreciate the opportunity to have a thoughtful discussion on the topic, particularly nowadays, when it seems all political debate is so horrendously absurd and...

I believe the long term health effects of smoking marijuana is not very well researched, but it depends on when you start and how much you smoke. The effect of smoking cigarettes are well documented though, it's really bad for you. Smoking things in general is bad for your lungs though, whatever the...

Re: Let this thread die!

I was under ...<snip> This is incredibly well put and I completely agree with all of it. First off, net neutrality rules did not exist in the United States until 2015. This wasn't a problem for the InterWeb for the years before that, not sure why it would be a problem now. So the "if it ain't broke...

Re: Let this thread die!

I think that ideally that would be the case, but from what I hear there are several areas were there are only really one choice for ISP, which is very troubling. Not to mention all the horror stories you can find about the big ISPs and their shady practices. I do not think anyone really stands to be...
