MLP is in its fourth(?) generation, and Pokémon in its fifth; MLP is by no means "new" relative to Pokémon except for the huge growth of its now multigenerational fanbase. There is a large overlap of both fanbases, but some fans remain divided, just as vraiment is a brony but hates Pokémon, yes DESU...
